  10. This is the S.O.S. Echo dedicated to the petition drive to amend the FLorida
  11. State Constitution to prohibit the use of gill nets and other entangling
  12. nets in our nearshore and inshore waters and to prohibit the use of large
  13. seines and food-shrimp nets nearshore and inshore.
  14.  
  15. Since this is a political issue, politics will be on-topic so long as they
  16. regard the subject of this Echo, namely: banning the nets! Both sides may
  17. post here but there will be some ground rules, to wit:
  18.  
  19. 1.  Though this is a political issue, politics must be related to the
  20.     net issues raised in the petition drive.
  21.  
  22. 2.  No flames [personal attacks] will be tolerated. This includes
  23.     name-calling and unsubstantiated claims. Attack the issues ONLY
  24.     and be prepared to back up your arguments/statements/claims with
  25.     verifiable facts.
  26.  
  27. 3.  No religion. This is a secular issue.
  28.  
  29. 4.  NO Private flagged messages in Echomail! Sysops please set this area
  30.     to public-only traffic. Send Private messages via Netmail!
  31.  
  32. 5.  Avoid excessive quoting. Don't quote an entire message for a one line
  33.     response. It costs people money to move Echomail. If you don't know
  34.     how to use the quoter on the system you use, ask your Sysop or read
  35.     the help files or refrain from quoting. Paraphrase but be accurate!

  37. 6.  This Echo will last as long as the petition drive takes. It is a
  38.     grassroots effort and has no official connection to the S.O.S.
  39.     Committee based in Orlando, FL, although they have been informed
  40.     of its existence and invited to participate.

  42. 7.  Allow the Moderator[s] to do any moderating required. Don't add to
  43.     the noise level by trying to correct the posts of others.

  45. 8.  See Rule #1. [grin]

  47. The traffic in this Echo is the responsibility of the person posting it. If
  48. you have a problem with an individual, work it out in Netmail or privately.
  49. Don't do it in here.

  51. The past traffic from this Echo will be archived in a file called:
  52. SOS-COMM.ECO. That file will be archived as it gets to 362K in an archive
  53. called: S_ECHO1.ZIP - S_ECHO99.ZIP [etc.]. Files are available from this
  54. system anytime except 0100-0130 ET and Zone 1 ZMH at 1200-9600+ HST/V32 for
  55. FidoNet listed systems only.

  57. All participants and Sysops are encouraged to send this Echo to any and all
  58. Nets and Networks in FLorida who are interested. This Echo is open to anyone
  59. who wishes to participate.

  61. The current Moderator is Christopher Baker of FidoNet Node 1:374/14 located
  62. in Titusville_FL_USA. Additional Moderators may be added as necessary.
  63. Notice will be given in the Echo and the Guidelines adjusted. The Guidelines
  64. will be posted on the 1st and 15th of every month. They are also available
  65. in the ELRUL211 file. This Echo will be EListed as of ELIST211.

  68. and protect it from the short-time mentality of a very few!
